At Dr. Mark Gordon's Developmental Optometry office we are committed to providing advanced vision therapy services in a professional and comfortable environment. As a board certified specialist in vision development and therapy we work on and improve visual function.
Optometric vision therapy is a highly specialized treatment for dysfunctions of the visual system. These vision challenges can be congenital such as when born with a crossed eye, developmental as a result of autism or ADD/ADHD, or acquired from a head trauma, stroke, or neurological disease.
Visual Developmental and Visual Processing Evaluations
A comprehensive evaluation takes time. Dr. Gordon explores eye alignment at both distance and near. Stability of eye alignment, focusing (accommodation function), convergence (ability to bring both eyes together to see easily at near), depth perception, color vision, visual-perceptual abilities (for understanding), visual-motor integration (for handwriting), visual-auditory integration (for phonetic decoding), vision and posture, timing and rhythm (for multi sensory processing), and primitive reflex integration.
At the office we have special equipment that measures eye movements during the reading process. In that way we can see where ones are are looking and how long they look at a word when reading. In addition when doing a sports vision assessment we also have specialized devices for exploring eye hand coordination, peripheral awareness and reaction time.
Dr. Gordon takes even routine eye exams very seriously. During a yearly or bi-yearly examination, our patients receive a patient history review, a series of vision and eye tests, assessments of eye focusing and movement, and an eye health evaluation. We are happy to discuss any additional testing that may be required to diagnose an eye disease or condition. Call us a today at 716-871-0074 to schedule an appointment.
